Nathan Lane Wimsatt was born in Louisville, Kentucky on March 23, 2005, and was the first child of Brian and Kathryn Wimsatt. He became a big brother to Natalie Wimsatt two years later. Nathan was a very energetic child with a big heart. He was a well-rounded person with broad interests. His love for sports and motorized vehicles was apparent from a very young age. He grew up playing soccer, tee ball, baseball, tennis, and basketball. In addition to sports, he loved riding four wheelers and dirt bikes as well helping his dad work on cars and small engines. He loved spending time in the outdoors, including camping and fishing. He also loved spending time at the lake and in Florida. No matter what he was doing, he always gave a 100% and lived life to the fullest. When Nathan was nine years old and in the fourth grade, his family moved from Louisville to Spencer County, Kentucky. While he did not like leaving the only home he ever knew, his life, and his friends in Louisville, he was excited about his future in Spencer County and what life would bring. Playing soccer the summer before his fourth grade year at Spencer County Soccer Association allowed him to meet new friends and settle into his new home and life in Spencer County. Given Nathan’s friendly and outgoing personality, it was no surprise that it was an easy transition into life in Spencer County. He met new friends and was soon living his best life in Spencer County.
Nathan’s life at home was a blessing as he lived on the same street as his aunt and uncle as well as his Mama and Papa. His Papa had a large pond dug in the neighborhood, which soon became his favorite place to hang out and fish. He was also able to ride his dirt bikes and four wheelers on the property. Nathan loved attending Spencer County High School. Throughout his high school career, he was busy with his academics, playing soccer and tennis, spending time with friends and family, and working at Walmart and Main Event. He also spent a significant amount of time in the barn with his father and uncles—Jody and Jamey—building his dream truck, a 1989 Jeep Comanche. This was a labor of love that would take two years to complete from the age of 14 to 16. He was so proud of this truck, and loved driving it and showing it to everyone. Not surprising, like all teenagers, he thoroughly enjoyed spending time with his close group of friends throughout his time in high school. Everyone who knew Nathan during his life would agree that he had an aura about him that would draw you to him. He had a bold personality but was sincere and honest in all aspects of his life. He had a gift for bringing people together that simply cannot be explained. He was always the glue that held his friend-group together. There is no doubt that he was an outgoing and friendly person that never met a stranger. It is hard to explain, but he would quickly develop a personal relationship with people that would be mutually cherished. He was also very funny and enjoyed making people laugh. Nathan’s life was tragically cut short on April 29, 2023 in a car accident just two weeks prior to his high school graduation. While he was only on this earth for 18 short years, his life touched so many people in positive ways and will have a lasting impact well beyond his 18 years.
Let’s not define Nathan’s life by how it ended way too early. Instead, let us remember Nathan’s life by all the lessons he taught us along the way regarding friendship, kindness, empathy, perseverance, and to live life to the fullest. Nathan was a believer in Jesus Christ as his Creator and Savior, and all those who have accepted Jesus as their Lord and Savior are comforted in the belief that we will one day get to see Nathan again in Heaven. While we will never understand why Nathan was taken from this world at such a young age, we know that his death continues to inspire people to develop a relationship with God.

Nathan's favorite movie was Cars, and that was widely known, and you can't help but sing along to Life is a Highway. The Way the Wimsatt's choose to live is to cling to their hope and faith in their Savior, Jesus Christ, "The way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." John 14:6
Our why, because Nathan was magnetic and we do it because Nathan loved it... We'll keep playing soccer, and tennis, and working on trucks, and browsing facebook marketplace, and getting excited about cars, and fishing, and 4-wheeling, and going to the beach (but nobody can skimboard as good), and double clapping everytime we laugh, and we'll work hard, and know what it means to be a good friend, and we'll do it all for the glory of God (1st Corinthians 10:31) and we WILL do it in honor of Nathan!
